Frequently Asked Questions

What is behaviour analysis?

Behaviour analysis is the scientific understanding of behaviour - the idea that all behaviour happens for a reason. It helps us to understand how a person's past experiences impact their current behaviours of concern. With this information, we can use a data-driven approach to skills teaching and improvements in quality of life.

How do your therapeutic interventions work?

Our interventions are based on the evidence-based approach that improving a service user's quality of life will reduce behaviours of concern. It's based on the idea that 'happy people don't hit people' - if we can understand and meet the underlying needs behind behaviours of concern, the behaviour will cease to occur.

What do your service-wide interventions look like?

To create behaviour change, it is important for us to create strong foundations. These foundations are focussed on creating skilled, compassionate and trauma-informed staff teams. These staff teams are confident in using proactive and preventative approaches to behaviours of concern, rather than concentrating on punishment and the use of restrictive practices. Our work helps to create a foundational shift in culture, to create trauma-informed and effective organisations.
